NEED TO FIX YOUR WEBSITE?
Here’s why you should start with a Marketing Strategy Session.
Most people believe, “If my website just looked prettier, my business would grow”. So they pay a designer lots of money to make something pretty, but they never see results.
They don’t see results because they don’t have a design problem - they have a message problem.
Their website is cluttered and the message is confusing people. And as you probably know, when you confuse - you’ll lose. Once you’ve realized your marketing is confusing people, there are many questions that follow:
How do I pick a company-wide message that doesn’t just sound good but will increase revenue?
Is it possible to have a clear message even though what I do is complex?
How do I explain in conversations what we do in a way that would make sense to anyone and get people to ask for my business card?
What should the top of my website say to hook people?
What should I do next and in what order?
These are important questions.
Left unanswered, it costs businesses tens of thousands in sales every year. And since overhauling your marketing is a big investment for you in terms of money and time, you need to make sure your building something that works.
That’s why a Marketing Strategy Session is where you should begin. It gets your company’s message clear so you’re actually solving the real problem - saving you from wasting time and money on projects that don’t grow your business.
Here’s what we’ll get done together.
Clarify your company’s message
Write your elevator pitch
Write what the top of your website should say
Create a plan for an effective website
Clarify your message
To stand out from your competitors, you need a clear message. I’ll help you use the Storybrand 7-Part Framework to do the following:
Define the desire your customers have as it relates to your product or service
Identify the problems that you help your customers resolve
Give your customers a simple plan they can follow that alleviates their problems
Create a clear call to action that leads your customers to a sale
Determine what success looks like for your customers
Describe what failure you are helping your customers avoid
Identify an aspirational identity for your customers
With these questions answered, you’ll have a clear message and the foundation we need to do Part 2 & 3 of your session.
Write your “Elevator Pitch”
The elevator pitch is a distilled version of your company’s message and is composed of 3 parts. It’s the most compelling way to answer the question, “What do you do?” Creating an elevator pitch and repeating it over and over is a great way to spread word about what you do and get people to ask for your business.
How you can use your elevator pitch:
Confidently explain what you do at networking events
Put it on your business card
Make it your email signature
Put it on your website’s homepage
Use it for your profile descriptions on social media
WRITE what the top of your website should say
You only get a few seconds when someone lands on your website to convince them to stay. We’ll work together to write out on a whiteboard the words that should be on the top of your website so you can quickly pass “The Grunt Test”, and answer these three questions:
What do you do?
How is it going to make my life as your customer better?
What should I do to get it?
After the session, we will create a mockup design of what your new site could look like and include it in your final report.
CREATE A PLAN FOR AN EFFECTIVE WEBSITE
At the end of our session you will have a complete and clear brand message. We will then develop a plan for you to implement this into the unique situation of your business - some people need full website redesigns, while others just need copy swapped on their existing site.
We’ll discuss whether hiring us to do the work would make financial sense and make you more money.
How long does it take?
A typical session takes 6-7 hours and follows this schedule:
8:30am – 9:00am
We drink coffee together and we’ll give a keynote on StoryBrand so everyone is on the same page.
9:00am – 12:00pm
Clarify your company's message, write your elevator pitch, begin writing the top of your homepage.
12:00pm – 1:00pm
We take your team to lunch and give our brains a break.
1:00pm – 2:30pm
Finish writing the top of your homepage and create an effective marketing plan.
Who should attend this session?
We require that anyone who will have final say on your website attend this session. Ideally this group will be 2-4 people. This usually includes your CEO, head of marketing, head of sales, or occasionally head of operations.
What do I receive after our session?
After our session, you will receive a Marketing Strategy Report for your business. In this report you will have:
Your company’s message written out (Brandscript)
Your company’s elevator pitch
The words that should be on the top of your website
A design mockup of what that could look like
A list of next steps for you to take with your marketing and info on what it would cost to have our team build them for you.
This report is independently valuable - you can take this report to any agency or designer. However if we are the right fit, we hope that you’ll invest with us.
We’ve never done something like this. Do you offer any sort of guarantee?
You need to make your marketing budget count, so we offer “The Clear & Confident Guarantee”. If for any reason you don’t feel clear and confident on your brand’s message and what you should do next, we’ll happily refund 100% of your money. But no one has ever asked for this - this session will give you the clarity you need to start marketing with confidence.
What’s my investment?
How much is a confusing website costing you? How much longer can you and your team go not knowing how to answer the question, “What do you do?” with confidence? How many clients can you afford to send to a website that sells you short? Not answering these questions may already be costing you a lot.
